Art Trip is owned and run by Dominic Dear, a Franschhoek-based specialist art and wine tour guide with a passion for discovering art, visiting galleries, and experiencing local wineries.
Dominic worked in the hospitality industry for several years, starting out in London before moving to South Africa, where he has been based predominantly in the Winelands. He has extensive food and wine knowledge and has developed unique relationships with local winemakers and restaurateurs.
Having lived in Franschhoek for 16 years, with its wonderful collection of galleries and restaurants, Dominic has refined a unique art, food, and wine combination that comes together perfectly. He offers guests an insider’s perspective on local galleries, the opportunity to interact with winemakers, to share local knowledge, and to enjoy the best cuisine from award-winning restaurants.
In addition to this, his love of local history means Dominic understands what goes into creating an unforgettable, curated experience.
When Dominic is not in a gallery or on a wine farm, you are likely to find him in the mountains around Franschhoek, indulging his other passions of mountain biking and hiking—both of which he has incorporated into some of his specialised itineraries.
